Description
THIS IS AN UNIQUE WORK: AVAILABLE
"CARLAZ" IS THE MONUMENTAL PORTRAIT OF CARLO FABBRICOTTI (CARRARA 1818, 1910), AN INDUSTRIALIST WHO IN THE NINETEENTH CENTURY ALLOWED THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE MARBLE MARKET, GIVING DIGNITY AND VALUE TO THE WORK OF QUARRIES AND SCULPTURE. HE WAS ALSO A POLITICIAN AND A GREAT COLLECTOR OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL FINDS, IN FACT HE FINANCED EXCAVATIONS BY BRINGING TO LIGHT AN AMPHITHEATER FROM THE ROMAN ERA.
THE MODEL WAS MADE BY ASSEMBLING, IN A THREE-DIMENSIONAL COLLAGE, VARIOUS PARTS OF CLASSICAL AND RENAISSANCE SCULPTURES; INTERPRETED AND DEFORMED WITH A CONSTANTLY EVOLVING TECHNIQUE, WHICH DRAWS ITS ROOTS IN THE PAST.
THE FINAL WORK IS IN WHITE CARRARA MARBLE, A SYMBOLIC MATERIAL OF SCULPTURE, WHICH OWES SO MUCH TO MEN LIKE CARLAZ, ENTREPRENEURS WHO HAVE INVESTED AND BELIEVED IN PROGRESS.
